Thailand: Visa Extensions to Boost Economy and Tourism

The Cabinet has approved new visa facilitation measures aimed at stimulating Thailand's economy and tourism. These measures, which will come into effect between late June and early July 2024, include visa exemption extensions, extending visa-on-arrival eligibility, introducing the Thailand Destination Visa for digital nomads and visitors, and improving visa issuance processes for non-resident students. Medium-term initiatives focus on simplifying visa types and reducing health insurance requirements, while long-term plans involve implementing an electronic travel authorization system aligned with the e-Visa system by December 2024.
