Greenland Rubies Seminar

The seminar took place 28 May at TICC Connect, on the 16th floor of Vanit Place Building 2 in Bangkok, welcoming professionals, gemstone enthusiasts, jewelry industry operators, and members of the international business community.
The event achieved a full house with all seats fully booked and over 40 participants attending, confirming the strong interest from the gem and jewelry community in the international gemstone industry.
The session explored the fascinating story of Greenland Rubies — from their geological formation in one of the harshest environments on Earth to the strategic and commercial implications following the closure of the mine. Participants gained valuable insight into mine-to-market strategies, ethical sourcing narratives, Arctic mining challenges, and the future commercial potential of the remaining finite inventory.

A special highlight of the seminar was the live observation of selected ruby specimens, including rare unheated samples, allowing attendees to engage directly with the material characteristics and origin features of these remarkable gemstones.

The event featured an engaging presentation by guest speaker Carl Leenaerts, moderated by Michele Tomea, followed by an interactive Q&A session and networking reception accompanied by an Italian aperitivo.
The Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce would like to sincerely thank all participants, guests, and partners who contributed to the success of the event. We would like to thank Pizza Massilia, Officina del Prosciutto and AIGS for supporting the event
