The BEST Lasagna. Professional Competition 2026

𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐤, 𝟐𝟎 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 - The 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢-𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞 (𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐂), in collaboration with THAIFEX-Horec Asia, successfully hosted the inaugural edition of 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐚. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, a new initiative dedicated to celebrating the excellence of Italian baked pasta traditions while showcasing the talent of professional chefs in Thailand.

 

Held at The Food School Bangkok, the competition welcomed 𝟏𝟏 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐟𝐬 representing renowned restaurants and hotels from Bangkok and across Thailand. Competitors presented their finest interpretations of 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐚 and 𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚, demonstrating outstanding technical skills, creativity, and respect for authentic Italian culinary traditions.

 

With an exceptionally high standard across all entries, the judging panel faced the challenging task of selecting the winners. The professional jury was composed of:

 

1. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐠 (𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫) - Chef-Owner of Sanitwong Bites & Brews, an award-winning restaurant recognized by Thailand's Favourite Restaurant.

2. 𝐄𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐨 - Sicilian chef with nearly twenty years of international experience across Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Denmark, and Thailand, currently representing SO/ Bangkok.

3. 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐕𝐢𝐠𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞 - General Manager of L'Antica Pizzeria Da Michele Bangkok.

4. 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭 "𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐞" 𝐖𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧 - Bangkok-based storyteller, photographer, and food writer passionate about documenting culinary culture through both photography and writing at RADARLIST.

5. 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐚 - Italian chef from Puglia and Chef-Owner of the acclaimed fine-dining establishment Clara Restaurant Bangkok, named after his wife, Clara.

 

Following a thorough evaluation, the jury awarded the following titles:

• 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: Chef 𝐓𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐔𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐧 - Giglio Trattoria Fiorentina Bangkok

• 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: Chef 𝐆𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐮𝐧𝐚 - L’OLIVA Bangkok Ristorante Italiano and Wine Bar, Bangkok

With a welcome speech by Mr. 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐨 𝐈𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐳𝐳𝐢, Secretary General, the 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢-𝐈𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞 extended its sincere appreciation to 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐨𝐤 for serving as the venue partner, 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐱 𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐂 𝐀𝐬𝐢𝐚 for its valuable collaboration in launching this new competition, and Global Food Products - GFP together with Acqua Panna - Sanpellegrino for their generous support.

This first edition marks the beginning of what is expected to become an annual platform celebrating authentic Italian cuisine and promoting culinary excellence in Thailand. Building on the success of this year's competition, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐚. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is planned to return on a larger scale as part of THAIFEX-Horec Asia 2027.
