Dengue fever is one of the most common infectious diseases in Southeast Asia, including Thailand.
Its severity ranges from mild symptoms to death. There are four serotypes of dengue viruses. Once a person becomes infected with a particular dengue virus serotype, specific immunity will develop to that serotype but not to others. Therefore, we can become infected with dengue virus more than once.
The efficacy of the vaccine against infection by all four serotypes of dengue is 80.2%.
The efficacy of the vaccine in preventing hospitalization is 90.4%.
